First Flower—Skunk Cabbage Hollow

Two-part Family Program

Spring is on the way! Meet one of the true heralds of spring and one of the first wildflowers to bloom each year: the skunk cabbage. Through this two-part virtual and in-person program, you will marvel at the unusual shape of this flower, witness its ability to generate ice-melting heat, and discover its technique for tricking pollinators.

Part 1 Zoom Presentation - Thursday, March 3, from 7-7:30 PM

Part 2 Hike - Saturday, March 5, from 10-11 AM

Winter Fairy Festival

March 5, 2022

Two sessions: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM AND 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM

Winter fairies and friends gather together for some magical activities at the Watershed. We'll build winter fairy cottages using natural materials, search for fairies hidden at each activity station, create fun crafts like fairies and pinecone bird feeders, and play fairy games such as fairy ring toss. Bundle up in your winter fairy finery for this all outdoors event. Wings encouraged!

Ages 2 and up, preregistration and adult attendance required. Discount available for members.

World Water Day

March 19, 2022

Two sessions: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM AND 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Join us for this free event to celebrate World Water Day 2022! Whether you are comfortable indoors or prefer outdoor activities, we have activities for everyone to enjoy.

Each session will offer games, explorations in our lab, scheduled eel feedings inside our Discover Room, and so much more. Enjoy outdoor water-themed arts and crafts, a vernal pool exploration hike, visit microscopic critters that live in our water, and meet a fish up close and personal at our touch station. World Water Day is an annual United Nations event, started in 1993, focusing on the importance of water

Preregistration is required as well as adherence to our COVID precautions.

Start of Spring Storytelling

March 25, 2022, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Spring is here! Join us for a cozy night around the fire and listen to stories from near and far. Roast a marshmallow while our storytellers spin yarns both funny and touching. Our fire will take place near the Watershed Center. Bring a flashlight and a sit-upon or blanket if desired. Dress for the weather of the day- wear your boots, it's bound to be muddy!

Ages 5 and up, preregistration and adult attendance required.
