FEBRUARY NEWS FROM THE PAPER MILL PLAYHOUSE

December Newsletter

NOW–FEB 20!

Murder and blackmail are on the menu when six mysterious guests assemble for a dinner party at Boddy Manor. Was it Mrs. Peacock in the study with the knife? Or Colonel Mustard in the library with the wrench? Based on the cult 1985 Paramount movie and inspired by the classic Hasbro game, this farce-meets-murder-mystery is bloody good fun!

CABARET RETURNS THIS WINTER

We are delighted to present two special cabaret programs at the Carriage House Restaurant in the F.M. Kirby Carriage House, welcoming back stars from our recent production of A Jolly Holiday. On Feb 26 & 27, Major Attaway performs a surprising mix of pop, Broadway, and the American songbook, featuring new arrangements of Frank Sinatra classics in his one-man Genie’s Jukebox (he’s the longest-running Genie in Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway). And on Mar 5 & 6 vocal powerhouse Kissy Simmons, best known for her nine years as Nala in Broadway’s The Lion King, sings jazzy standards, R&B favorites, hit show tunes, and selections from the Disney catalog. Tickets are $40 with a two-drink minimum.

MURDER MYSTERY DINNERS AT THE CARRIAGE HOUSE RESTAURANT

It’s the Roaring Twenties, and you have been invited to the hottest spot in town: The Rotten Club! It’s a big night and everyone is up to no good. Early Demise, the club owner, is on edge because Mr. Big is back to check out the joint and make sure Early is making his backer money. Early’s headliner (and sometimes girlfriend), Bette, is scheduled to sing, but Bette is too busy making eyes at the guests to perform. To make matters worse, Early’s wife has decided that tonight is the night to end Early’s “extracurricular activities” with Bette and the bottle. It will take a master detective and help from YOU to solve the mystery!

DONOR PROFILE

Longtime subscribers Marilyn and Monroe Markovitz have been attending and enjoying Paper Mill productions together for decades. Their children recently made a $1.5 million gift in their parents’ honor to upgrade stage technology to state-of-the-art equipment. Mrs. Markovitz commented, “The location of Paper Mill in our community gives us the chance to enjoy great theater close to home and enriches us all.” In recognition of this generous gift, the stage will be named the Marilyn and Monroe Markovitz Stage.
