See what’s happening in January @ the Paper Mill Playhouse

December Newsletter

It’s the roaring twenties, and you have been invited to the hottest spot in town: The Rotten Club! It’s a big night and everyone is up to no good. Early Demise, the club owner, is on edge because Mr. Big is back to check out the joint and make sure Early is making his backer money. Early’s headliner (and sometimes girlfriend), Bette, is scheduled to sing, but Bette is too busy making eyes at the guests to perform. To make matters worse, Early’s wife has decided that tonight is the night to end Early’s “extracurricular activities” with Bette and the bottle. It will take a master detective and help from YOU to solve the mystery!

Murder and blackmail are back on the menu when six mysterious guests assemble for a dinner party at Boddy Manor. Was it Mrs. Peacock in the study with the knife? Or Colonel Mustard in the library with the wrench? Based on the cult 1985 Paramount movie and inspired by the classic Hasbro game, this farce-meets-murder-mystery is bloody good fun. Directed by Maplewood, NJ, resident Casey Hushion (Associate Director, Aladdin, The Prom, Mean Girls).

Joyce and Jerry Bertner have shared their love of musical theater for over two decades. Joyce remembers coming to Paper Mill as a young girl when she shopped at a family store in Millburn. Jerry grew up in New York City seeing Broadway shows. They subscribed to Paper Mill when they married and settled in Short Hills because they love the quality and talent in Paper Mill productions. They are longtime supporters, and Joyce has been Paper Mill’s volunteer coordinator. Joyce says, “Paper Mill is a Millburn treasure.”

We are honored to receive a $100,000 grant from the nationally known Hearst Foundations for Paper Mill's Education programs. Our Adopt-A-School Project, Rising Star Awards, autism-friendly programs, and more help children grow through the power of live theater.  We are nurturing imagination and empathy in a whole new generation of New Jersey's young people!

Welcome to the Hearst Foundations, our incomparable new Education & Outreach Partner.
