The concert is produced by Loretta Fois, Director of RVCC’s dance program.

Face masks are required in all RVCC facilities.

The student pieces chosen for the concert include choreography by Elanna Etemad (Warren), Nathan Forster (Warren), Matthew Maxcy (Bradley Beach), Mark Negron (Somerset), Emily Stecher (Berkeley Heights), Alison Stone (Bridgewater), and Ariana Szep (Hillsborough). The student choreography is the culmination of a semester of classwork as the students created and rehearsed the new works to be performed.

In addition to the student works, guest artist Karen Verso will present Continuum, a contemporary ballet sextet set to the Brandenburg Concerto #3 in G Major by Johann Sebastian Bach. The light and moving piece plays with musicality and space. Verso has appeared as a principal dancer with Ohio Ballet, Dayton Ballet, BalletMet, New Jersey Ballet, and Dennis Wayne’s Dancers, performing extensively throughout the US, Canada, South America, and Europe. A member of Twyla Tharp Dance, she premiered Tharp’s blockbuster, “In the Upper Room,” and performed other Tharp favorites such as “Baker’s Dozen,” “As Time Goes By,” and “Nine Sinatra Songs.” With her husband, Edward, Verso served as director and primary ballet instructor of the Dance Center of New Jersey for 20 years. She also served as an Adjunct Professor of Dance at RVCC.

DanceWorks also will feature the Raritan Valley Dance Ensemble (RVDE) in a performance of It Takes a Village by guest artist Lisa Grimes. Grimes has taught as RVCC and currently teaches at Montclair State University. Directed by Loretta Fois, RVDE performs at local schools, senior centers, and community groups each semester, as well as at campus events.
