NOVEMBER UPDATE FROM GREENWOOD GARDENS

Revitalize Your Senses

Dear Friends,

The unusually warm Autumn weather makes it hard to believe that Greenwood
Gardens’ 2021 season is coming to a close this Sunday. Soft apricot roses on the Main Lawn and dramatic dahlias on the Reflecting Pool Terrace (above) remind us that Mother Nature is not quite ready to call it a day. Despite this seeming trickery, our horticulture and facilities staff are busy “harvesting” fallen leaves to use as mulch, and preparing to plant hundreds of tulips, daffodils and other spring flowering bulbs.

Be sure to stop by this
final open weekend for a revitalizing stroll down the terraced Main Axis with its two stately fountains and croquet lawn. As you continue your tour, imagine a time gone by at the iconic 1920s Teahouse and Summerhouse. Take a few moments to daydream on a bench overlooking the bucolic ponds. And be sure to have a talk with our friendly turkeys down at the Barnyard. Now as always, nature, beauty, and history beckon at Greenwood.

Please watch for our Notes from the Garden through the winter and our upcoming issue of Seasons to arrive soon in your mailbox!

With warmest wishes,

Abby O'Neill, Executive Director
