Dan Levinson has once again assembled a truly
spectacular group for this annual event, which will be our first back
inside the theatre. Join us this Thursday, October 28!
Exciting young
trumpeter and vocalist, Danny Jonokuchi, winner of the
first-ever Count Basie Great American Swing Contest earlier this
year, will make his debut appearance at the theatre. Trombonist Doug
Finke, who led his Independence Hall Jazz Band the night Dan made
his own inaugural appearance at the theatre in October 2001, will
make the trek north from his current home in Louisville,
Kentucky to participate in the evening’s festivities. Conal
Fowkes—for over 20 years the pianist in Woody Allen’s
Monday-night band at NYC’s prestigious Carlyle Hotel and who is
featured on many of the filmmaker’s soundtracks—will grace the
ivories of the Bickford’s grand piano. Canadian bassist, Jen
Hodge, recently relocated to New York City, will make her debut
appearance at the theatre. And drummer Kevin Dorn, for 25
years the “Rock of Gibraltar” in Dan’s rhythm sections, will take his
seat in the “engine room.” This event sells out, so don’t wait to buy
tickets!
