BONJ Artists Perform Across New Jersey


 

 


 

 

Two BONJ Guest Artists Perform exciting solo recitals in the area soon

Critically-acclaimed concert pianist Carolyn Enger presents a unique experience transporting you directly into nature through this cinematic concert with selected works by JS Bach, Olivier Messiaen, Erik Satie, Carolyn Shaw and more. Resonating Earth focuses on the ongoing climate change crisis, with music ranging from the Baroque to the present alongside stunning imagery of the environment by Peabody Award-winning producer Elliot Forrest (WQXR), visual artist Myles Aronowitz, and internationally-exhibited environmental activist and photographer J Henry Fair. Carolyn was a special guest soloist in the 2021 BONJ Spring Music Festival.

Internationally renowned classical guitarist Stanley Alexandrowicz returns to the beautiful and sonically marvelous 1867 Sanctuary for a recital of Baroque, Romantic, Contemporary, and Latin American guitar masterpieces. Featured will be works by Girolamo Frescobaldi, Napoleon Coste, Ivan Padovec, Ernst Bacon, Kendall Kennison, Maestro Robert Butts, and Manuel Ponce. Famed for his thrilling virtuosity, insightful interpretations, and profound musicality, Stanley Alexandrowicz regularly tours the world performing in the musical capitals of London, New York, Rome, Wroclaw, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Princeton. Stanley has appeared in recitals and concerts with The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey and has recently completed recording a CD of compositions of Maestro Butts and will premiere Maestro Butts's Guitar Concerto in June, 2022.

Our first concert of 2021-2022 will be

Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 2:00 PM (note our new starting time!)

at Dolan Hall, Saint Elizabeth University, 2 Convent Road, Morristown, New Jersey.

Welcome back! We can't wait to share the music with you again in person.

For this special return to live concerts, we are happy to return to our 18th century roots and present a program of music from the Baroque era.

The major work on that concert will be our own staged interpretation

of Johann Sebastian Bach's delightful Coffee Cantata!

 The performance will feature soprano Timothy Maureen Cole, bass Jason Adamo

and BONJ comprimario Tom Loughman.

 Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto for Oboe in A Minor

 As a bonus, the concert will open with a world premiere:

Cecilia Waltz by contemporary Italian composer Franco Moro

2020 was a rough year for all of us! Thank you for sharing so much with us.

Thank you for sharing our collaborative performance with Keys 2 Success, working together to produce music even at the height of the pandemic.

Thank you for sharing Bach, Bagels, and Bob on Saturday mornings where we could be together to meet our artists and each other while watching memorable videos from the BONJ archives.

Thank you for sharing our Virtual Summer Festival, recorded at the Madison Community Arts Center and broadcast over four consecutive Sunday evenings.

Thank you for sharing our December events – a virtual concert safely recorded live, a Beethoven Birthday Concert, our holiday episode of Bach, Bagels, and Bob, and an original holiday opera.

We thank you greatly for your generous support which has helped the orchestra and our artists continue to perform and present music we all can enjoy.
