Bickford Theatre Reopening and Upcoming Performances!
After nearly
20 months and 57 outdoor performances, we are happy to share the news
of our reopening of the Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum!
The lobby
doors will open again with our 10th anniversary Bickford Benefit Jazz
Concert that honors Dan Levinson's 20th anniversary of his Bickford
debut!
The
award-winning production of Josie & Grace will illuminate
the equally historical imaginary friendship between Josephine Baker
and Grace Kelly in a new show from the artists who delighted our
outdoor audiences last year with Josephine: A Cabaret Dream Play.
After many
months without hearing our beloved grand piano, Jenny Lin dusts it
off with a riveting and enlightening program, Glass Reflections, that
pairs etudes by Philip Glass with works by Debussy, Rachmaninoff,
Liszt, Schubert, and more.
Finally, another
favorite of our Back Deck season, the jazz trio, Empire Wild, returns
with cellos and percussion to warm audiences with a fresh take on
holiday classics.
Tickets for
the Bickford Benefit and Josie & Grace are on sale now,
Jenny Lin and Empire Wild will be on sale soon.
We will soon
announce our full slate of National Theatre Live and Art on Screen.
To keep our
audiences and artists as safe as possible, all audience members ages
12 and over must present proof of full COVID vaccination with corresponding
ID and remain masked throughout their time indoors at the Morris
Museum and Bickford Theatre. We appreciate your cooperation and
patience.

The
Diamond-and-Emerald BICKFORD BENEFIT CONCERT Thursday,
October 28, 2021 at 7:30pm Dan Levinson has once again assembled a truly
spectacular group for this annual event, which will be our first back
inside the theatre. Exciting young trumpeter and vocalist, Danny
Jonokuchi, winner of the first-ever Count Basie Great American
Swing Contest earlier this year, will make his debut appearance
at the theatre. Trombonist Doug Finke, who led his
Independence Hall Jazz Band the night Dan made his own inaugural
appearance at the theatre in October 2001, will make the trek north
from his current home in Louisville, Kentucky to participate in
the evening’s festivities. Conal Fowkes – for over
20 years the pianist in Woody Allen’s Monday-night band at NYC’s
prestigious Carlyle Hotel and who is featured on many of the
filmmaker’s soundtracks – will grace the ivories of the
Bickford’s grand piano. Canadian bassist, Jen Hodge,
recently relocated to New York City, will make her debut appearance
at the theatre. And drummer Kevin Dorn, for 25 years the
“Rock of Gibraltar” in Dan’s rhythm sections, will take his seat in the
“engine room.”
This event sells out, so don’t wait to buy tickets! This concert
is generously sponsored by Vince and Katherine Teti.
