Behind the Scenes Video of A Bronx Tale The Musical—Opening Night this Weekend!

"A BRONX TALE" The Musical OPENS THIS WEEKEND

Opening Night! Opening Right!

The Axelrod Performing Arts Center, after 19 dark months, turns the lights on A BRONX TALE The Musical this Friday night, October 29.

A Bronx Tale Rehearsals

This feel-good New York musical, with a rock and bluesy score by Oscar and Tony winner Alan Menken (LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST) retells Chazz Palminteri’s story of growing up in the 1960s in an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx.

The show stars native Jersey boy Mike Keller as Calogero, with his younger self played by Virginia-based young actor Hudson Koonce. Sonny, the neighborhood boss, is played by another native Jersey guy Mike Keller, film and TV actor known for ON THE ROCKS, HUSTLERS, GIRL MOST LIKELY, BLUE BLOODS, and THE BLACKLIST.

The show is being directed by Broadway veteran Richard H. Blake, whose 15 shows on Broadway include A BRONX TALE, WICKED, JERSEY BOYS, and LEGALLY BLONDE.

Like all theaters in NYC, the Axelrod PAC requires patrons to present proof of vaccination and to wear masks while in the arts center. Patrons should feel confident that the theater’s ventilation system is fully upgraded and we are abiding by all Covid precautions required by the Actors’ Equity Association and the NJ Theater Alliance.

Join us this weekend for the opening—you’ll be so glad you came back. Your support of LIVE MUSIC AND THEATER in New Jersey is vital and appreciated.
