Updated Health & Safety Procedures for Students

Summer art camp was a great success (and a lot of fun), and we're pleased to announce that we'll be inviting students back into the museum studios for fall classes and workshops.

The health and safety of students, visitors, and staff are top of mind. Following the most up-to-date guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as local/state recommendations, we’ve developed new health and safety standards for individuals taking classes on-site at HAM:

  • We’ve reduced class sizes for on-site programs to eight people.
  • Students and faculty must provide proof of vaccination prior to the class start date. We invite those who are unvaccinated to explore our virtual options or view the in-person class via Zoom.
  • Students and faculty must wear a mask at all times, regardless of age or vaccination status.
  • Teens and adults must wipe down touched surfaces including stands, stools, tables, and anything else in the studio.
  • High-touch areas in the studios will be sanitized by staff between classes

We have invested in a state-of-the-art air purification system that continuously cleans the air throughout the entire museum.

If you are unwell, stay at home. If someone in your home has been feeling ill or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, we ask that all members reschedule their visit to the museum or at home until they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medicine.

We will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 crisis and move classes to an online format if necessary for health and safety purposes. Our faculty and staff are trained to seamlessly transition to virtual classes without losing time or sacrificing the quality of the class.

Effective September 10, 2021, all HAM students 12 and older must be fully vaccinated to participate in an on-site class and must provide proof of vaccination, such as a CDC-issued card, to the Education Department. Students must wear masks while in the Museum.

You may review the COVID-19 Policy for students here, which includes a space to upload your proof of vaccination. You will be prompted to complete this form when registering for a class or workshop, but can do so at any time.
