Pride 🌈  in Who I Am with MOCACREATE at Home!

MOCACREATE at Home | Pride in Who I Am!

Help MOCA celebrate Pride Month by exploring the lives and work of AAPI artists who are members of the LGBTQIA community! This week, let’s learn about Martin Wong. Martin Wong was a gay Chinese American artist who moved from San Francisco to New York’s Lower East Side in the late 1970s. His paintings often featured scenes from the neighborhood, which wasn’t usually pictured in art around this time. Let’s take a look at Martin Wong’s painting La Vida and then create portraits of what we see outside our own windows!

Share your finished projects with us by tagging #MOCACREATE and #MOCACREATEathome on social media, DMing us, or emailing images to education@mocanyc.org.
