Reedman Evan Arntzen
and trumpeter Jon-Erik Kellso have performed together for years in the
EarRegulars as well as Grammy Award Winning Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks.
Following 2019’s “Jazz Crush,” their latest critically acclaimed
recording together, Countermelody (Dot Time Records, 2021) features the
unique, spontaneous interplay between these two on a collection of
newly-arranged songs from the likes of Louis Armstrong, Bennie Moten and
Benny Green, as well as a handful of original compositions. Backed by a
rhythm section of NYC’s finest (including McLean, Ridenhour and Ronen),
don’t miss the sparks flying when Evan and Jon-Erik go to town!
