CARES ACT GIVING INCENTIVES

EXTENDED THROUGH 2021

On December 27, 2020, the COVID-19 Relief and Government Funding Bill was signed into law, extending through 2021 various cash charitable giving incentives included in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security, or CARES Act of 2020.

One impactful provision of the bill includes the charitable deduction limit for cash contributions by individuals in 2021 being suspended, allowing a donor to deduct cash charitable contributions up to 100 percent of adjusted gross income (AGI). Donor-advised funds are excluded.

Learn more about charitable contribution limits for individuals and to view considerations where thoughtful philanthropy can have maximum tax benefits.
