March 16 – Food to Faces

Students will learn the basic skills of collage in creating a human form.  They will then learn about Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo, who is famous for creating portraits out of food items.  After a discussion of nutrition, the participants will then create their own “portrait a la Giuseppe Arcimboldo,” creating their body out of their favorite foods.

March 23 – The Power of the Flower

Flower blossoms have only one job, no matter how pretty or drab they are.  Dissect a flower and learn its parts, how it does what it does, and start some flower seeds or early spring plantings. Please pick up supplies at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum.
