March 15 deadline for Morris Arts Teaching Artist Relief Grant
Morris Arts is pleased to offer grants for New
Jersey Teaching Artists experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19
pandemic. The Morris Arts Teaching Artist
Relief Grant is made possible through the New Jersey Arts & Culture
Recovery Fund of the Princeton Area Community Foundation helping to ensure the
survival of New Jersey’s cultural sector during this period of economic
devastation from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eligibility applies to
- practicing New Jersey Teaching Artists who are professional artists with dual careers as educators—in all artistic disciplines (music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and writing)—who work in schools, museums, social service and community settings.
- Applicants must demonstrate strong financial need and a history of arts-based income.
- Full time K-12 or college faculty are not eligible.
- Applicants must live in New Jersey, be 18 years or older and able to receive taxable income in the United States.
March 15, 2021 is the grant application deadline. Awardees will be notified by email of the decision no later than April 30, 2021. Morris Arts will mail payment to awardees shortly following notification email. Grant awards are unrestricted and can be used for any kind of emergency relief. Grant recipients will not be required to file a final report. The decisions of Morris Arts are final.
Morris Arts will administer the application, selection process, notification and disbursement of funds. All applications will be reviewed against the listed criteria for eligibility by Morris Arts staff. Once eligibility has been confirmed, an independent grant panel will review applications and make award recommendations. Recommendations will be approved by the Morris Arts Board of Trustees.
The grants will be awarded based upon demonstrated financial need, available funding, and an equitable distribution of funds relating to racial/ethnic diversity, geography (South, Central, North New Jersey) and arts disciplines. We expect the need in the field to be extremely high.
