Winter Reading: Visit millburnlibrary.beanstack.org or get the Beanstack app on your smart device to register. Start reading and logging books in your account. The more you read, the better your odds. You will be automatically entered in the raffle for every book you log. Three winners will be chosen at the end of the month!

 

Safety Measures at the Millburn LibraryWhen open during weekdays, patrons may enter the library for up to 30 minutes for browsing purposes only. We do not currently have any public computers available for use. Face coverings must be worn over mouth and nose for the duration of your visit. Do you know how to successfully create your resume in order to let hiring managers know immediately you are a good fit? Learn how to incorporate power verbs into effective bullet points that sell you to prospective employers. Joan Sternberg has been teaching business classes at Rutgers University for over 8 years. All of her business classes include resume and interviewing skills.

Janet Mandel Presents Georgia O'Keeffe

Speaking with Colors and Shapes

Georgia O’Keeffe, one of the most important and fascinating artists of the 20th Century, has given us images of audacious flowers, dramatic cityscapes, glowing landscapes, and haunting depictions of bones against the stark desert sky. Arts educator Janet Mandel tells O’Keeffe’s remarkable story in three parts. This is the last of a three part series. If you have registered for the first two lectures, you do not need to register again.

Enjoy Explore India

Register here

Join us for a highly interactive Bollywood-style dance workshop with performer and storyteller Seema Moondra. Participants are welcome to dress up as Bollywood or Hollywood movie stars! If possible, bring a long scarf since we will be dancing at this online event! We will also learn some background about the songs and Indian cinema as well.

Space: The Cosmos for Kids with Turtle Dance Music

Monday Jan 25 | 4:00pm

Space: The Cosmos For Kids is a fun “Carl-Sagan-dance-party” for kids of all ages! Each song includes dancing, music technology and information about our solar system to a thumping beat. Audience members will meet aliens from outer space, travel through black holes, discover the different characteristics of the eight planets, sing karaoke, participate in a rap battle about the sun and learn about the differences between revolution and rotation.

Jorge Gutierrez Art Workshop

Join artist Doris Benter in a workshop featuring the art style of Jorge Gutierrez, who created portrait tributes to Tupak Shakur and many other celebrities. This session will focus on African American hero, Robert Smalls, who escaped slavery in 1862 by commandeering the Confederate ship he steered with his family and some of the families of his crewmates.

In this session, Collegewise counselors will discuss the admissions timeline and provide families with a roadmap of what you can be doing today, tomorrow, and in a year’s time. We'll also share tried-and-true tips and strategies for managing stress and staying organized along the way.

Teen Personal Finance 101

Wednesday Jan 20 | 6:00pm

This is an introduction to basic personal finance for teens. Covered topics include: introduction to credit, savings, and budgeting; short term vs. long term financial goals; how to create a manageable budget. Presented by Alex Lobzhanidze, College Business Manager at W.W. Norton & Co.

For Kids: Each week, children are invited to take home a bag of craft supplies to make a specific project.

 

For Teens: Ages 12-18. Stop by the Reference Desk for a candy sushi kit.

 

For Adults: Stop by the Reference Desk for a vision line.
