Butterflies Are Free by Leonard Gershe was a Center Players Signature production in February/March 2019.

It is the funny, poignant story of Don Baker, a young blind man determined to live on his own in New York City, circa 1969. When this budding singer/songwriter meets Jill Tanner, the free-spirited hippie who lives in the apartment next door, their friendship blossoms into a romance that takes both of them by surprise, as does the unexpected arrival of Don’s overprotective mother.

The cast features Ryan Irving as Don, Jackie Kuczinski as Jill, Marina Tu as Mrs. Baker, and Vincent Gruosso as Ralph. The production was directed by Anthony Marinelli.

A Q&A session with Marinelli and the cast will follow the broadcast.

Celebrating its 19th season at Center Playhouse, Center Players is a respected, award-winning organization, presenting high quality, engaging productions featuring local talent in downtown Freehold. In addition to their signature plays, the group also sponsors free play readings and other special events and offers dinner and theater packages with several local restaurants.
