NJ Rep Spotlights A.S.T.E.P. in Long Branch

NJ Rep’s mission is based on the importance of amplifying diverse voices by developing and producing new plays and to be a catalyst  in the redevelopment and revitalization of our community. In addition to being a theater, we are also an arts center that nurtures all the arts.

We seek to bring about positive change by promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion, and we encourage our supporters to consider donating to the various grass-roots organizations in our community that promote the betterment of children's and young people's lives.

Today we highlight A.S.T.E.P., an after school tutoring program, and we will highlight various local organizations throughout the year.

A.S.T.E.P. was founded by Veronica Stubbs in 1995 and established as a 501- (c) (3) non-profit organization in 1997. It  provides tutoring to students who are struggling with their academic studies and assists them to master basic skills that prepare them for the workforce. It seeks to enrich and encourage children and young adults to push through challenges and overcome defeat in order to move to the next level. A.S.T.E.P.'s vision is to provide a variety of educational skills, life skills, and job training readiness programs, to foster well-rounded individuals to take a step in the right direction and excel. A.S.T.E.P. also connects with the community by collecting toys for children in hospitals, providing food to feed the hungry, and is seeking assistance in obtaining new laptops for students currently attending school at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
