Just two more weeks of Summer Planetarium Shows

Public programming Week of August 14

Summer Schedule:

  • Wednesdays: 2:30 and 3:30 pm
  • Thursdays: 2:30 and 3:30 pm
  • Fridays: 7:00, 8:00, 9:00 pm
  • Saturdays: July 20, 27, and August 24

The show schedule changes slightly each week.  Please check our PUBLIC SHOWS website for details.

ADMISSION: $10 per person for one show; $16 per person for two shows on the same day

Magic Tree House: Space Mission

Wednesdays, August 14, 21 at 2:30 pm

Join Jack and Annie as they discover the secrets of the Sun, Moon, planets, space travel, and more. Who can help them answer the questions left for them by the mysterious "M"?  (Recommended for ages 5 and older)


The Little Star that Could

Wednesdays, August 14, 21 at 3:30 pm

Travel with an average yellow star on his quest to get a name and a planet to call his own.  A "cool" red star, a "hot" blue star and other stars teach Little Star some important things about being a star.  Imagine Little Star's surprise when he discovers that planets rotate around him.  A great introduction to the different kinds of stars in space, as well as the planets in our solar system. (Recommended for ages 6 and older)



Rockin' Rocket Ride

Thursdays, August 15, 22 at 2:30 pm

Put on your space suit and blast-off into outer space to visit the Moon, Sun and planets.  A lively experience for young people with selected music from "Journey into Space" by Jan Murphy. (Recommended for ages 3-8)



Storybooks in Space

Thursday, August 15, at 3:30 pm

Enjoy story time in the planetarium as youngsters and their families learn about the stars and planets.  Pages from books are projected on the dome overhead, then followed with a space song or flight by the planets.  There is no extra charge for stuffed animal friends. (Recommended for ages 4-8)

Perfect Little Planet

Fridays, August 16, 23 at 7:00 pm

A family from another star system is seeking the perfect vacation spot. Fly over the surface of Pluto, sail through the rings of Saturn, avoid Jupiter's lightning storms. Which destination will they choose? (Recommended for ages 6 and older)




To Worlds Beyond: Journey through Our Solar System

Fridays, August 16, 23 at 8:00 pm

Take an amazing journey through our solar system, visiting each of the planets, plus the most famous dwarf planet, Pluto.  Beautiful images taken from orbiting satellites blend with high end animations and current information about our neighborhood of planets.This program is paired with out traditional star ID talk in the Planetarium. (Recommended for ages 10-adult)


Laser Bon Jovi

Friday, August 16, at 9:00 pm

New Jersey's own Jon Bon Jovi is the star of this new laser concert.  Sing along with some of their greatest hits like "Bad Medicine,"  "Runaway," "Livin' on a Prayer" and "Wanted Dead or Alive. as lasers dance across the dome overhead.  Recommended for ages 10-adult)

Laser Springsteen

New Jersey's own Bruce Springsteen is the inspiration for this new laser concert.  It features a dozen of The Boss's hit songs.

The Sky Above 

Saturday, August 24, 5:00 pm

Enjoy music, laser lights, stories, and information about the planets, Moon, and constellations. Content is presented on a kindergarten level.

RVCC Planetarium offers special astronomy and music shows designed for families with children on the Autism spectrum or those with developmental disabilities. These sensory-friendly shows, which are appropriate for audiences of all ages, will provide a comfortable and judgment-free space that is welcoming to all families. During the show, the doors will remain open so children may freely leave and return if they choose. Lights will be left dim (instead of dark) and the audio will be lowered and kept at a consistent level.
