Recital by Acclaimed Pianist, Premiere of Opera “Nixon in China,” Baroque Chamber Concert Featured This Week in Princeton Festival Program

The Festival’s 2019 musical production She Loves Me, which has elicited raves from all its reviewers, will continue its 13-performance run Thursday through Sunday, June 20-23.

Piano Recital

WHEN: Saturday, June 22, at 7:30 pm

Taplin Auditorium, in Fine Hall on Princeton University campus

Rachel Cheung will give a recital of Baroque, Romantic, and modern piano music by Rameau, Chopin, Fauré, Ravel, and Schubert. Ms. Cheung plays to great acclaim in the music capitals of the world, including Kiev, Heidelberg, Geneva, Paris, London, and Hong Kong. This performance marks her Princeton and New Jersey debut.

Baroque Chamber Orchestra

WHEN: June 22 at 4 pm
WHERE:
Trinity Church, 33 Mercer Street, Princeton

The Princeton Festival Baroque Chamber Orchestra will present a concert of works by W.F. Bach, Jean-Marie Leclair, Georg Philipp Telemann and others. The concert will be played on period instruments using authentic Baroque performance practices.

Nixon in China

WHEN: Sunday, June 23, at 3 pm
WHERE:
Matthews Theatre at McCarter Theatre Center, 91 University Pl., Princeton

The most anticipated event of the season, John Adams’ landmark opera Nixon in China, created by and for the Festival, brings out the intimate human stories behind the world-changing events portrayed in the opera’s poetic libretto and mesmerizing music. The performance will be followed by a meet-the-artists reception.

She Loves Me

WHEN: 8 pm Thursday through Saturday, June 20-22, and at 4 pm on Sunday, June 23
