One of the artists featured in the  Art Council of Livingston’s  current show is Anita Delal

After a career in teaching in West Orange, NJ, she began oil painting. Early subjects were skies. “I loved their constantly changing colors and patterns,” said Delal. Since they were not realistic, they led her to experiment with abstract painting.

Her paintings in this show are done with cold wax and oils. Cold wax is laid down and then  scratched and grooved into layers which adds texture and interest to her paintings. Inspiration for these pieces are the shapes, crevices, colors and markings throughout the canyons  in the National Parks of Utah.

“In my studio I tried to recreate the feelings I had when hiking through those canyons last May.” added Delal.

The exhibit comprises fine art disciplines including mixed media, jewelry, blown glass, painting, sculpture, pottery, printmaking and photography.
