New Summer Programming Offers Something for Everyone at West Orange Arts Center

Rock Star by Sadee BrathwaiteThe West Orange Arts Council’s July programs include a pop-up art exhibit and workshops for poets, songwriters, crafters and aspiring calligraphers.


WHEN: opens to the public on Saturday, July 7, at 2:00 pm. A Meet-the-Artists Reception will be held on Saturday, July 21, at 2:00 pm, immediately preceding a 4:00 pm performance at Luna Stage. Cypher & Sound, a free poets and songwriters workshop which encourages artists to come together and express themselves over a common subject, will be held on Thursday, July 12, at 7:00 pm.

The July pop-up exhibit features the work of Sadee Brathwaite, founder of La Leona Arts. Her drawings and paintings explore concepts of beauty, universal archetypes, and symbology. James Horton will premiere his most recent series of photographs inspired by New York subway scenes, flowers and nature. Barbara Motley, creator of 4 BMADE Designs, will showcase her fashions.

The West Orange Arts Council was established in 1998 to cultivate, inspire, and support the arts. Area artists and community leaders remain the core of this all-volunteer organization that operates the West Orange Arts Center Gallery and Gifts Shop at 551 Valley Road, West Orange, NJ.
