Members Exhibition Accepting Entries; Summer Camp; Adult Classes

Just a friendly reminder that we're currently accepting entries for our juried Members Exhibition. Deadline to register is July 6.

This year's juror is Michael J. Bzdak. As the Global Director of Employee Engagement in the office of Global Community Impact at Johnson & Johnson, Michael Bzdak manages the Corporation’s efforts to engage employees in social impact work. He received a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and an MA and Ph.D. in art history from Rutgers University.  Michael also serves as an adjunct faculty member at New York University.

Michael serves on the New Jersey’s Governor’s Advisory Council on Volunteerism and Community Service and on the advisory board of Rutgers University’s Institute for Women’s Leadership.  Additionally, he has served on the Council on Foundations Corporate Committee; the New Jersey AIDS Partnership Advisory Committee; the board of the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation as well as the New Jersey Council for the Humanities where he completed a term as chairman of the board of directors.

Don't Miss These Upcoming Summer Camps!

HAM Summer Camps offer kids a fun, nurturing and creative environment under the expert guidance of our faculty of professional artists and teachers. Here are a few popular choices:

imageAnimal Art (Week of June 25; 1 to 4 p.m.): In this camp all about animals, students will draw, paint, and sculpt their own creatures great and small. Color, composition, form, and perspective will be covered. For ages 5 to 9. Don't Miss It!

Global Art Sampler (Week of July 2; 9 a.m. to noon): Travel the globe through art.  We will explore different artistic traditions with projects including drawing, printmaking, painting, and sculpture. For ages 10 to 15. Sign Up Today!

Art and Music (Week of July 2; 1 to 4 p.m.): Art and music come together in this fun camp!  Kids will learn how color and shapes coordinate with sound and mood to create several watercolor paintings. They'll also make their own instruments! For ages 5 to 9. Join Us!

Drawing and Painting (Week of July 2; 1 to 4 p.m.): A true studio art camp for the beginning artist or someone developing their skills. Weekly projects encourage exploration of traditional wet and dry materials including pencil, charcoal, pastels, watercolor, and acrylic paint. For ages 10 to 15. Sign Up!

Challenging  Adult Classes and Workshops at HAM 

Discover a hidden talent or brush up on your skills by joining us for a class or workshop at the Hunterdon Art Museum. We are offering a variety of programs you're going to love. You'll learn a lot and have a blast doing it under the guidance of our faculty of artists and educators, professional storytellers, book and fiber artists.

Here are a few favorites:

Painting: Pushing the Limits with Bascha Mon (Four Saturdays starting July 7; 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.): Toss the rules out the window and throw caution to the winds in this class that encourages imaginations to soar! Create art working with oils, acrylics and mixed media as you expand your creative horizons. For adults and teens, ages 16 and up. Register!

Wine & Design: Paint Party with Linda Schroeder (Friday, July 13; 6 to 8:30 p.m.): Discover your inner artist in a fun and creative atmosphere, as artist Linda Schroeder walks you through the steps of creating your own painting on canvas. No previous art experience is necessary. Ideal for couples, groups of friends, and anyone who likes to paint and party. For adults, ages 21 and up. Register!

Silkscreen Printing: Simple & Fun Workshop with Stephen McKenzie (Sunday, July 15; 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.): Silkscreen printing is simple and fun, with attractive -- and sometimes unexpected -- results. Learn the process of silkscreen printing, create original designs and print endlessly to create editions of prints and/or your own textiles.  Register!
