Member Exhibition Featuring Elaine Denton to Open at the Art Center on June 23

Maria at 59 St (2)Elaine Denton: Finding My Voice

WHEN: June 23 – August 20; An opening reception for this exhibition will be held on Saturday, July 14, from 2–4 PM.

The exhibition, Elaine Denton: Finding My Voice, presents work that features familiar subjects ever-present in ordinary life. “My artwork tends to focus on visual snapshots of the everyday,” says Denton. “Often I select subjects that are visible on a daily basis, but are overlooked because people are so used to them—architectural details that were created at a time when labor was less expensive or scenes from the daily routine. I try to convey a feeling for the locale or the person I am painting and hope to provoke both curiosity from the viewer and a feeling of emotional recognition.”
