FREE JAZZ FEST IN METUCHEN ON JUNE 2

The festival will feature the Grammy Award-Winning Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra led by Arturo O'Farrill, and will also include performances by Mike Neer (Steelonious Project) and the Metuchen High School Jazz Band!

The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra (ALJO), led by Pianist, Composer and Director Arturo O' Farrill, brings together the drama of big band jazz, the culture of Latin music, and the virtuosity of eighteen of the world's most accomplished solo musicians.

Arturo O’Farrill, pianist, composer and educator was born in Mexico and grew up in New York City.  He received his formal musical education at Manhattan School of Music, Brooklyn College Conservatory and the Aaron Copeland School of Music at Queens College.  Mike Neer is a multi-instrumentalist best known for his innovative steel guitar playing.

Organized and hosted by the Metuchen Arts Council and made possible by funding from the Borough Improvement League and the Middlesex County Office of Culture & Heritage, Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.

Easily accessible from NJ Turnpike/Exit 10, Garden State Parkway Exit 132 and NJ Transit NE Corridor train to Metuchen. Metuchen Taxi  is across from train station.

The event is FREE and All are Welcome.  Mike Neer Steelonious Band (Quintet) performs jazz classics with unconventional musical instruments and the award-winning Metuchen High School Jazz Band also performs.
