“Cabaret for Life is pleased to continue offering the John C. Rodriguez Scholarship as we have for the past 12 years to honor one of our most dedicated and talented board members. Over the years we’ve had the privilege of awarding New Jersey seniors who have gone on to enjoy professional careers in the theater on Broadway and in national tours. We look forward to meeting this year’s applicants,” says Andrew DePrisco, President of Cabaret for Life.

John C. Rodriguez was an artist, singer, musician, and a song writer.  He also was a graduate of Teaneck High School and Ramapo College.  His warmth, gentle humor, prolific artistic talent and tireless goodness touched everyone he met.  As a resident of Howell NJ, he became a Director for Cabaret for Life.  John was an active participant and graphics and set designer for CFL for five years.  John had a tremendous passion to pass along his love for the arts to the next generations.  His wife, Bonnie Carolan, is a Trustee of CFL, and all three of John’s children, Annie, Jessie and Maggie have performed in CFL productions.

Cabaret for Life, Inc. was established in 1995 by a core group of Monmouth and Ocean County residents who came together to make a difference in the lives of people threatened by AIDS and similar debilitating illnesses.  In its first few months of operation, this group of diversely talented individuals recognized the apparent need for funds to help people coping with HIV/AIDS in New Jersey.  Cabaret for Life has dedicated its efforts toward these people and the organizations that exist to serve them.  The organization was incorporated with the State of New Jersey in October 1995 and was designated exempt of Federal and State tax in 1997.
