Image result for Kate BakerKate Baker’s love of music is the basis for two remarkable talents, as a singer and an educator. She has a distinctive vocal style and lyrical expression and she has evolved into one of today’s most sought after singers. Her voice resonates with her love of diverse musical inspirations whether Jazz, Brazilian, Latin or the Blues. Be it a Cole Porter standard or an Antonio Carlos Jobim composition, English or Portuguese, Kate is at home. She will be performing with her husband, Vic Juris famous jazz guitarist.

Image result for Vic JurisVic Juris was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, he met and work with blind saxophonist Eric Kloss and they became friends. he met guitarist Pat Martino, who became a friend and mentor. Juris recorded with Richie Cole his debut album as a leader, Road Song, in 1979. Since 1991 he has spent much of his career with saxophonist David Liebman.Juris has taught at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, Lehigh University, and Rutgers University and has written instructional books for guitar.

Led by the great Dave Brubeck’s son Chris, Triple Play brings together three exceptional musicians whose good-time music draws on folk, blues, and jazz. Grammy-nominated composer and musician Chris Brubeck has been called “one of the finest jazz trombonists around today” by Downbeat Magazine and “one of the most capable electric bassists” by the Los Angeles Times. He began touring and recording with his legendary father and has gone onto international acclaim as a performer, composer, and band leader.

The Midiri Brothers Salute Benny Goodman’s Carnegie Hall Concert. In January 1938, Benny Goodman performed a concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall that became known as one of the most exciting–and important–evenings of music in the history of jazz. For the 80th anniversary, Grunin Center favorites the Midiri Brothers and their Orchestra will perform an unforgettable tribute to the night Carnegie Hall learned to swing!
