2017 FALL AUDITIONS: THE MASTERWORK CHORUS

WHEN: Wednesday evenings, September 13 and 20, 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm
WHERE:
Chatham United Methodist Church (CUMC), 460 Main Street, Chatham

Openings are available in all voice parts, but tenors and basses are especially encouraged to join. Contact Don MacGowan at (973) 479-4020 or membership@masterwork.org. Other arrangements may be made if necessary.

During the audition, singers will be asked to vocalize, carry out pitch—and rhythm—matching exercises, sight read in a four-part piece and, optionally, sing a prepared selection. Previous choral experience is highly desirable. Prospective singers are invited to the chorus’ first rehearsal on September 6, 2017 to acquaint themselves with singers and rehearsal style. All rehearsals take place at CUMC on Wednesdays from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

Upcoming performances begin with Masterwork’s annual fundraiser featuring music of the Beatles with internationally acclaimed impersonators led by Alan LeBoeuf as Paul McCartney. December is jam-packed with The Masterwork Camerata’s Holiday Concert of Carols, the annual Messiah Sing-Along, and, of course, The Masterwork Chorus and Orchestra’s annual performances of Handel’s Messiah at Carnegie Hall and at Ridge PAC (NJ). March celebrates the Bernstein Centenary with works that include selections from Mass, Candide, and a West Side Story medley, while the season concludes with War and Peace that juxtaposes the lovely Fauré Requiem with Ralph Vaughan Williams’s powerful Dona Nobis Pacem.
