With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, book by Harvey Fierstein and based on the Disney Film written by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White, the 2012 Tony - Award winning musical makes its way onto the Centenary Stage. It is New York City 1899 and Jack Kelly and his ragtag group of newsboys make a meager living selling newspapers on the city streets. However, when the prices of "papes" are hiked and the newsies are hung out to dry, there is nothing left to do but "open the gates and seize the day"!

CSC’s production of Disney’s Newsies the Musical will be directed and choreographed by Broadway, film and television veteran Michael Blevins.

Rehearsals will be held weekends (Friday to Sunday) beginning in late September with performances running November 24 through December 10 in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center.

Katherine Plummer - The strong willed daughter of Pulitzer. This young lady drips smarts, opinions and confidence. A young Katherine Hepburn or Ellen Page. This damsel needs no prince to save her. Must have a great contemporary tenor voice. Exceptional tap dancing and gymnastic/tumbling skills. (16-21yrs old, Male, Tenor: C3-G4)

Les Jacobs - The fearless kid brother of Davey. Excited by everything the world has to offer and eager to join in the adventure. Fun is this kid's middle name. Must sing really well. Exceptional Tap Dancing skills and gymnastics/tumbling a plus. (10-12yrs old, Male, Tenor)

Joseph Pulitzer - The boisterous forefather of Wm. F. Buckley Jr, Glenn Beck and Rupert Murdoch. An on point, know it all, politician. Impolite and impatient with the world. Must sing well. (40s, Male, Baritone)

Crutchie - A slight, sickly boy with a huge heart. He walks with the aid of a crutch due to a bad leg, but that doesn't hold him back from being right in the middle of any mischief. A real charmer. (17-22yrs old, Male, Tenor: C3-G4)
