Mezzo-soprano Jessica Renfro and pianist Lynda Saponara have joined forces to present Viaggio: A Transatlantic Love Affair, an afternoon of Italian and American music. All proceeds from the free will offering at the door will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

This cultural event was inspired by Renfro's recent experiences living in Florence, Italy where she performed at the prestigious Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. "Everyone says that Italy is beautiful, but I wasn't prepared for how completely I would fall in love with that country, while at the same time being homesick for America". Saponara, an Italian-American, heard and played Italian music from a very young age, and was excited to bring that music into recital form. These classically trained musicians have performed extensively in Europe and the United States, and have created a program of songs that expresses their passion for both Italy and America.

The performance on May 21st will be in memory of Michael Muscente, and all proceeds from the event will be donated to support his mother Pamela Muscente’s third Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk for AFSP. Through both the concert and the walk, she hopes to reach those who are struggling and remove the stigma associated with mental illness. "For every suicide completed, 25 have attempted. We need to reach those 25 and beyond; provide the help and support they so desperately need."
