Grace Community Music presents lunchtime organ meditations every Friday throughout Lent, beginning March 3, and running through April 7. Drinks and dessert are provided after each performance.
Local gourmet sandwich shop, Madison’s Slamwich Scratch Kitchen, will provide a selection of sliders and salads for $7 purchase after each concert. The organ console and pedals will be projected onto the wall for better audience viewing.
Dr. Anne Matlack is organist/choir director at Grace, where Friday Lenten Organ Recitals have been a Madison tradition since the 1950s, founded by her predecessor, Helen E.J. Thomas. There are several exciting guests this year.
- The first recital March 3 Dr. Matlack gets the series started with organ meditations on Lenten hymns.
- March 10 is the annual visit from the music students of Pingry School the Balladeers and Buttondowns, & Upper School String Ensemble performing music by Chilcott and Bach.
- On March 17 Dr. Matlack will of course follow an Irish theme.
