STUDENT MATINEES @ STNJ THIS FALL

Red Velvet

This marks the New Jersey premiere of award-winning British playwright, Lolita Chakrabarti’s true-life story of Ira Aldridge, an African-American actor and the first black man to appear as Othello on the London stage. This compelling tale of a pioneer artist from the 1800’s is fascinating, heartbreaking, and immensely relevant for our day and age.

Richard III

One of Shakespeare's most captivating and popular history plays, Richard III follows the rise and fall for the infamous crook-backed Duke of Gloucester.

First Folio

In recognition of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey and Drew University have partnered to bring Shakespeare's First Folio to campus for a free exhibit.  Presented in conjunction with Richard III, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the book that gave us Shakespeare.
