Traynor-CarmelValley-300x238

2016 Fall Classes and Workshops

The Center for Contemporary Art is excited to announce its fall schedule of art classes and workshops which begins September and runs through December. There are 65 classes and workshops for adults and 26 classes for children ages five through teens. Classes are offered for artists with all levels of expertise in a variety of media including oil and acrylic paint, pastel, gouache, watercolor, drawing, photography, and ceramics.

This fall The Center is offering a new “iPad Drawing” class for adults with Dan Fenelon. This class demonstrates the many ways drawing and sketching can be done on an iPad. Fall art workshops provide unique one-day and two-day opportunities for local artists. The Center is offering a two-day plein air workshop with visiting artist John Traynor. This workshop is designed for individuals who have some experience with oil painting and are interested in gaining insights into the creative process by working with a master artist.

The Center’s unique curriculum of children’s art classes allows young artists to enroll in either overview classes that explore a broad range of media and techniques, or in-depth classes designed to deepen and develop skills in a single medium. A new class for homeschooled children is offered on Fridays beginning September 16th and is presented for two age groups. The class celebrates the creativity of children while establishing a foundational understanding of the elements and principles of art and design. Additionally, new drawing and painting classes for teens are available on Thursday evenings starting September 12th.
