Let's Read Together is a family literacy program designed to help kids get ready to read! Each session will highlight fun activities that adults and children can share to help develop early literacy skills. Children of all abilities are welcome.

Homeschooling Meeting: How-To Faire
Check out the Library’s monthly Homeschooling meeting and make friends with other families. Youth Services Librarian, Enola Romano, displays our comprehensive collection of parenting books provided for your family. This month join our How-To Faire by demonstrating how to do something. For example, show how to sew on a button, make oobelck, or tattoo a banana.

Family Storytime @ Bellevue Avenue Branch
This program is designed for newborns through five year-olds accompanied by a favorite adult. Share books, stories, finger-plays, rhymes, and music with your children. Enjoy a story session that encourages a love of reading and fosters the development of early literacy skills. Children of all abilities welcome. Family Storytime now takes place on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month.

My Africa Vacation: Children’s Author Ozi Okaro
Children’s author Ozi Okaro returns to Montclair Public Library to read her new picture book My Africa Vacation! Starting in Kenya, Arinze’s family travels to ten African countries, demonstrating how vibrant and multifaceted the African landscape and cultures really are. They go on safari, gaze with wonder on Victoria Falls and Mount Kilimanjaro, and explore the continent’s architectural and historical wonders. Ozi Okaro is the author of The Big Ceremony and ABC’s Trip to Africa, She is the founder of African Girl Brands, which focuses on toys, books, and other educational materials about Africa . Books will be available for purchase at the event.

Montclair Make Music Day
Montclair Make Music Day is a “DIY” (do it yourself) and "DIT" (do it together) event celebrating music in our community. Montclair Public Library and the Bellevue Avenue Branch Library will host free, family-friendly concerts throughout the day in partnership with Montcair Make Music Day. Summer Reading Club Kickoff: The Bossy Frog Band
The Summer Reading Club is here! This year’s theme is “On Your Mark, Get Set...READ!” and Montclair Public Library kicks off its’ summer events with the hoppin’ sounds of The Bossy Frog Band! Kids and their families will shake their sillies out to the Bossy Frog Band’s high energy show—which includes a 6 foot tall dancing frog! Sing along to their silly tunes as these wacky characters get you ready for a summer of reading joy. After the show be sure to enroll in the Summer Reading Club at the 3rd floor Youth Services Department!

Summer Reading Teen Volunteers Needed
The Summer Reading Club is just around the corner! This year’s theme is “Get in the Game: Read.” Montclair Public Library invites Montclair students ages 14 and older to participate in the library’s summer volunteer program. Teens must attend one (1) of the four (4) orientation dates.* Interested teens will have the opportunity to sign up for volunteer positions, as well as learn about the library’s Summer Reading Club program. Orientations will be held in the 3rd floor; register online. Volunteer positions are limited so register early!
