Jupiter is high in the south at mid-month. Look for Jupiter east of Regulus in Leo the Lion. Mars reaches opposition May 22 and is closest to the Earth on May 30. This is the closest Mars opposition since 2005! See Mars and Saturn up an hour after sunset later in the month. Saturn is to the lower left of Mars in late May. Throughout the majority of May, Mars and Saturn can be observed an hour before sunrise. - New Moon: May 6
