BLACK MARIA FILM FESTIVAL CELEBRATES OPENING WEEKEND WITH EVENTS IN JERSEY CITY AND WEST ORANGE

BLACK MARIA FILM FESTIVAL: 35th ANNIVERSARY

WHEN:  Thursday night February 4th, 2016, at 8:00 p.m. 
WHERE:
the Gothic Lounge of Hepburn Hall, at New Jersey City University, 2039 Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ, the Festival’s home base.
ADMISSION: Admission is free and open to the general public. Light refreshments will be served.

The opening night screening will present the top Stellar-Award winning films from the 2016 juried competition.

In addition, there will be a gala evening event, including a musical performance, a photo exhibition by artist Michael DiFeo of Jersey City and a screening of the Festival’s award-winning short films.

WHEN: Saturday night, February 6th, at 7:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
WHERE: Art House Productions, 136 Magnolia Ave., Jersey City, NJ, adjacent to the Journal Square PATH Station. ADMISSION: available in advance for $12 at www.arthouseproductions.org, or for $15 at the door. 
Advance purchase is recommended, as seating is limited.
Limited free parking is available. 

The closing program rounding out the Festival’s premiere weekend is sponsored by the West Orange Film Society and will feature an eclectic program of short films and a Q & A with the audience. Join us for a piece of “Edison Cake,” to celebrate the birthday of Thomas Edison, the inventor of the motion picture camera. Jane Steuerwald will present each Black Maria Film Festival program in person.

Edison Media Arts Consortium – Black Maria Film Festival with a “Citation of Excellence” again in 2015, for achieving the highest standards of excellence as recognized by its peers.
