The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC Announces New Cultural Initiative Workshops
Bollywood Dance Workshops

TUITION: The classes are free and open to the public. Ages 13 – adult.

These classes will be taught by award-winning Bollywood Choreographer with 15 years of experience, Sonalee Vyas-Jani.
This is a 90-minute high-energy workshop that will give dancers the opportunity to shine as they learn an entire Bollywood dance song! This is a fun and upbeat class which lets children explore Indian music, rhythms and movement with lots of spins, turns, jumps and shimmy.
There are 5 essential elements for Bollywood dance, which will be covered in these workshops:
1. Timing & Rhythm
2. Energy & Enthusiasm
3. Stamina
4. Sharp classical hand and feet gestures
5. Controlled and expressive movements
These classes will also give the dancer the ability to learn an entire Bollywood dance within 90 minutes. The first 30 minutes will be dedicated to specially designed warm-ups with hand and foot work, to help you understand the movement of the body. The next 60 minutes will be dedicated to learning and perfecting the entire Bollywood song.

About Sonalee Vyas
Sonalee Vyas is the founder of the Sonalee Vyas Dance Company. With over 20 years of dancing experience, Sonalee Vyas has one of the most respected professional dance training schools in the Tri-State Area. The Indian-born choreographer has pushed the boundaries of performance dance by incorporating the technical elements of various world dances for further inspiration in Indian choreography. She presents her audiences with an exciting and emotional blend of Bollywood, traditional and modern, molded into a style of choreography that is both eloquent and explosive. Her movement provokes, inspires and entertains audiences with its unique blend of music, dance and narrative styles.
About The Performing Arts School at bergenPAC
The Education program at bergenPAC features a series of classes, school residencies, workshops, live performances, student productions and ensemble groups in the performing arts for students ages 2 1/2 months to 21 years old.
The program provides students with unique and “hands-on” arts training by industry professionals that allow them to gain real world experience and enhance academic achievement through the arts. bergenPAC’s arts education initiatives occur on-site at our new Performing Arts School building at 1 Depot Square, Englewood, NJ or off-site at other schools. The school reaches more than 30,000 students annually.
The Performing Arts School offers basic and professional level performing arts classes and ensemble groups and productions in theater, dance, and music for students of all ages and abilities including special needs. The school also offers beyond bergenPAC, a school Partnership Program with school districts throughout the area.
