WHERE: Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, Taub Campus, 411 E Clinton Ave., Tenafly
ADMISSION: Free

The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades will mark this important annual commemoration with a film screening of In Darkness, directed by Agnieszka Holland, which follows the true story of Leopold Socha, a sewer worker and petty thief in a Nazi-occupied city in Poland, who encounters a group of Jews trying to escape the ghetto liquidation. He hides them for money in the labyrinth of sewers beneath the city, but what starts out as a cynical arrangement turns into something unexpected.

The film is a remarkable testament to survival and the extraordinary lengths people can be forced to go in order to outwit certain death and ever-increasing danger.
