NJCU ALUMNI JAZZ BIG BAND PAYS TRIBUTE TO CLARK TERRY ON THE JERSEY CITY WATERFRONT

Jazz Great Wynton Marsalis to Headline Free Concert

The NJCU Alumni Jazz Big Band will pay tribute to the great trumpet star Clark Terry who passed away earlier this year with a free concert featuring special guest Wynton Marsalis (above, photo by Rob Wayman). The concert is co-presented by NJCU and the City of Jersey City. 

Under the direction of Professor Dick Lowenthal, the Alumni Band will features Rich DeRosa on drums; sax players Mark Friedman, Darryl Dixon and Bob Magnuson; trumpeters Vinnie Cutro and Nathan Eklund; trombonists Rob Edwards and Denny Hall among the musicians. Also appearing will be two players who worked with Mr. Terry, bassist Marcus McLaurine; and pianist Mike Longo.

The concert is open to the public.

*The J. Owen Grundy Pier is conveniently located near public transportation, including PATH and Light Rail and there are several parking lots in the area. In the event of rain, the concert will be held in the Hyatt Regency which is next door to the pier.
