HUB CITY SOUNDS SETS SCHEDULE FOR FREE FESTIVAL IN NEW BRUNSWICK: MARK YOUR CALENDARS

Hub City Sounds Festival - August 8 - September 26, 2015

HUB CITY SOUNDS
A Free Family Performing and Visual Arts Festival in Downtown New Brunswick

WHEN: August 8 – September 26, every Saturday, as well as some Sundays

ADMISSION:  free of charge for all Hub City Sounds events.
Free parking is available for the Boyd Park events, exactly one block away at the Rutgers Public Safety Building, located at 55 Commercial Avenue.

New Brunswick Cultural Center, Arts New Brunswick, and Johnson & Johnson present the fourth annual Hub City Sounds series, taking place  this summer. This FREE family-friendly series includes music, dance, and much more from industry professionals, emerging artists, local theatre companies, and other artists. Local artists are featured at neighborhood parks and theatre venues located in the heart of downtown New Brunswick, NJ including Boyd Park, Alice Jennings Archibald Park, Crossroads Theatre, George Street Playhouse, and State Theatre.

Festivalgoers are welcome to bring blankets or chairs for lawn seating at park events, and refreshments will be available for purchase. The festival includes collaborations with the city of New Brunswick, State Theatre, George Street Playhouse, Crossroads Theatre Company, American Repertory Ballet, New Brunswick City Market, coLAB Arts, New Brunswick Civic League and Lazos Unida.

Featuring New Brunswick’s District Jazz Band (high school and middle school musicians), a violinist, spoken word poetry, and African drumming and dance.

Kids Rock
Saturday, August 15, 3pm to 4:30pm
State Theatre, 15 Livingston Ave

Featuring Big Jeff & the StarFish band; a Rock band for kids ages 1 to 6.

Motion: Next Generation of Dance
Sunday, August 16, 2pm to 4pm
George Street Playhouse, 9 Livingston Ave
Featuring local dance student performances including B.A.M School of Performing Arts and NJ Ballet Arts Center, curated by coLAB Arts.

Guelaguetza
Saturday, August 22, 12pm to 6pm

Featuring the beautiful music, cultural dances, and traditions from Oaxaca, Mexico.

Featuring a performance by the Tony-Award winning Crossroads Theatre Company, highlighting pieces of their Gospel Choir concert from their upcoming show Holiday Jubilee.
