Hurricane Sandy wields its force upon the home of Marty and Mary Murphy, threatening to destroy not only the life they have built together but the neighborhood that they grew up in. Will Marty manage to save his neighborhood and his home, or are the secrets unearthed by the storm too powerful to overcome? Featuring Damian Buzzerio, Mike DiSalvo, Billy Finn, Deanna McGovern, Brian O’Neill, Sheila Stasack and Jo Twiss.

“The play is a testament to those local residents who were knocked down by the storm but refused to be beaten by it,” stated John J. Wooten, the producing artistic director of Premiere Stages. “With thousands still displaced, it also provides a powerful reminder that work remains to be done to ensure that our neighbors are not forgotten and continue to get the support they need.”

Please join Premiere Stages for our 2015 Talk-Back Series, featuring free post-show discussions after select matinee performances:

  • Sunday, July 19 at 3 pm: Asbury Park artist Laura Petrovich-Cheney discusses By the Block, her exhibition of quilts created with wooden debris salvaged from Hurricane Sandy. The exhibition is free, and runs July 16 – September 14 in the James Howe Gallery, located in Vaughn Eames Hall; please call 908-737-0392 or visit www.kean.edu/~gallery/ for details. The gallery will open 2 hours prior to every performance.
  • Sunday, July 26 at 3 pm: Dr. Paul J. Croft, Executive Director of Kean University’s School of Environmental & Sustainability Sciences, discusses climate change and its effect on extreme weather.
  • Saturday, August 1 at 3 pm: Sue Pniewski, New Jersey Coordinator for Portlight Strategies, Inc., discusses Portlight’s post-disaster relief work, and Hurricane Sandy’s impact on the Garden State’s most vulnerable residents.
