The Play
A widower in his late fifties races to retirement before his company “right sizes” as his adult, college educated son continues to be under employed…not earning enough money making coffee to move out of his father’s basement. Damage Control is a play about America in 2014 as older and younger workers battle with the recession and the reality of being trapped at both ends of the workforce.

The Author
Joseph M. Paprzycki is an author of over fifty plays and screenplays including LAST RITES, TENNESSEE'S FINAL CURTAIN,UNDERSTUDIES, FORTUNE COOKIES, EXPRESS TRACKS, and YOUTH IN AMERICA. He was born and raised in Camden, New Jersey where five of his plays and one screenplay are set.

Over 30 of his plays have been produced in New York, New Jersey and the Philadelphia area. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Rosemont College, La Salle University and Temple University where he has taught either playwriting or scriptwriting on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He is also the founder and producing artistic director of the South Camden Theatre Company—a professional theatre company located in Camden, New Jersey.

The Theatre
South Camden Theatre Company is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit professional theatre company dedicated to helping revitalize the City of Camden, New Jersey by producing meaningful, professional theater in the City’s Waterfront South District. Founded by a playwright, the South Camden Theatre Company stages seldom-seen, classic plays and original works as the resident theatre company at Waterfront South Theatre. South Camden Theatre Company is a proud member of The New Jersey Theatre Alliance, South Jersey Cultural Alliance, and the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance.

Playwrights Theatre has teamed up with the National New Play Network, the New Jersey Theatre Alliance and six additional theatres to present New Plays New Jersey, a celebration of New Works by New Jersey Writers and the Theatres that present them.

Seven theatres in the state have selected a new work by a New Jersey writer to be presented in a week-long festival of Concert Readings at The Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum, performed by professional actors, many familiar to New Jersey audiences.

Readings continue throughout the week until March 8 (no reading on Saturday, March 7). A complete listing of play synopsis, author pictures and bios, and theatre descriptions can be found at http://www.ptnj.org/miscpage/new-plays-new-jersey-2015
