Gaelen Gallery East at the Leon & Toby Cooperman JCC, Ross Family Campus, 760 Northfield Avenue, West Orange

The JCC employs many creative people with art backgrounds. One example is adult painting teacher and Art Lovers’ Odyssey leader Vivian Cohen Olshen (above). Vivian’s work reflects her interest in nature and particularly the anthropomorphic images found in nature, which show the human spirit. Vivian’s goal is to share that spirit with others through creativity & education.

Sarah Brenneman Jo, another JCC employee, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Columbus College of Art and Design in 1998 and earned a Masters of Fine Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2000. Brenneman has work included in the collections of the Aspen Contemporary Art Collection, Citigroup, Cleveland Clinic, The Sprint Collection and The Progressive Corporation as well as several other corporate and private collections.

This exhibit will pleasantly surprise viewers by featuring art work from employees they know in a wide range of JCC departments.

Breathtaking ceramic vessels by ceramist Steve Jaskowak fill the Steiner Court showcases. He states, “I am fascinated by the subtle details in the qualities of clay and how touching it records information. I hope to create a body of work that will speak of a life of exploration in shape, surface, and form.” Jaskowak teaches at Kean University and the Montclair Art Museum.

Gaelen Gallery East is open during regular JCC hours.  Monday-Thursday,5:30 AM-10:00 PM; Friday, 5:30 AM-6:00 PM; Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM. For more information, please contact Lisa Suss at 973.530.3413 (lsuss@jccmetrowest.org).
