Literary Event: Our Voices Out Loud Sanctuary is a collaboration between Yendor Productions, Rutgers Queer Newark, and the LGBT community of Newark to explore, document, and exhibit the city’s club scene.  It was a scene that created safe spaces and provided an almost spiritual sanctuary for the LGBTQI community. A literary event will occur around the themes presented in the exhibition. Sanctuary is a Newark Arts Council supported exhibition. Featuring Poets Joseph Legaspi, Timothy Liu and Mia X.

Brick City Speaks: Open Doors Edition WHEN: 7-11 PM
WHERE:
127 Halsey St, Newark
METADATA Metadata is an investigation of poetry as data and art as metadata. Artist Brendan Mahoney has two requests for participating poets: 1) to write a an original poem with the prompt: “poetry as metadata”; and 2) to provide the coordinates (latitude and longitude) of a specific location to which Brendan will travel to deliver the poem in the manner instructed by the poet. Brendan will simultaneously collect meta-data (i.e. sound recordings, still frame photography, etc.) to be presented as a montage of sorts on October 17th along with readings by the poets.
