The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster will showcase Singing Head, a book that is the result of the collaboration of three river town artists:  Fred Lowe, poet of Frenchtown, NJ; Val Sivilli, painter and graphic artist of Mount Joy, PA.; and Ulla Warchol, book designer and fabricator of Upper Black Eddy, PA.

aspenSinging Head celebrates the ancient alphabet of Gaelic Scotland and Ireland whose letters are the names of trees. Eighteen poems mirror the 18 tree/letters of the alphabet. Songlike, simple but elegant, Fred Lowe’s poems draw on botanical and mythological lore. Each poem is paired with an image created by the painter/printmaker Val Sivilli.  Poems and images play against each other in striking ways. The entire work is newly presented in a limited edition book designed and hand-constructed by book artist Ulla Warchol.

*Poem-prints will be on exhibit from Thursday, October 30 through Saturday, November 1, 2014 and will be available for sale along with numbered copies of the book.

gorse*The book will be presented on Sunday, November 2nd from 2 until 4 PM.  Light fare and wine will precede an informal discussion among the three artists about their collaboration.

*Gallery hours are Thursday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Friday-Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM
