Jersey City Brew Club: 2014 Homebrew Competition

A new theater, arts & music festival kicks off the first official weekend of Autumn in Jersey City. Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC) presents ARTOBERFEST—a day of arts, diversity and community.

ARTOBERFEST features art, music, dance, and theater. The Jersey City Brew Club’s 4th Annual Homebrew Competition also will be featured at the festival. Premium beer and homemade Italian food will be sold throughout the day.

“Jersey City is a beautiful, diverse and creative community and ARTOBERFEST is an opportunity to bring our community together in support of the arts,” said Olga Levina, Artistic Director, JCTC. “Plus the weather hasn’t gotten cold yet, so ARTOBERFEST is one of the last chances for everyone to hang together outside.”

The entertainment line-up music, dance, theater and visual arts . Bands include: Kasandra Black and The Eclectic; Beninghove's Hangmen; The Rock n' Roll Hi-Fives; Overlake; and Coffin Daggers. The CUDA (Culture-Community for Urban Dance & Art) and the Barvinok Ukrainian Dance Ensemble of New Jersey will perform; Rock WILK, an actor/playwright and poet presents an excerpt of his new one-man show, Brooklyn Quartet and a troupe of Garden State-based actors and comedians will stage NJ Comedy Sketches. A DJ will be spinning beats to start the day as well as between performances.

The ARTOBERFEST-mural will also have an official unveiling as part of the afternoon’s array of events. Commissioned by JCTC, the latest Jersey City Mural, painted on the Southern wall of the Merseles Parking Lot, will have undraped for its public debut.

ARTOBERFEST features a diverse selection of premium lagers & ales. Brewers represented include: NJ Beer Company; Flying Fish Brewing Company; Anchor Brewing Company and Victory Brewing Company. Proceeds from beer sales will go to JCTC programming.

Homemade Italian Cooking by Delenio Restaurant will also be sold throughout ARTOBERFEST.
