25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE
Conceived by Rebecca Feldman
Music and Lyrics by William Finn
Book by Rachel Sheinkin
Directed by Jason Cilento
Choreographed by Kaitlyn Chattin
Conducted by Musical Director Cindy Chattin, all past or present residents of Dunellen.
A unique and quirky musical comedy, Spelling Bee features a talented cast of
local individuals, whose characters lend new meaning to the definition of misfit. This creatively clever musical is fraught with stereotypical personalities that can be found in middle schools across the country.
Revolving around six young adults in the throes of puberty, vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime, The Bee, as it is fondly referred to, leads its participants on a journey of growth and discovery. It is through the trials and tribulations of competition they begin to comprehend that sometimes being a winner means understanding how to loose.
DSTP invites you to share in a night of music and laughter as the Spelling Bee reminds us of the growing pains of the middle school years and makes us laugh at the child that's in all of us.
