A MESSAGE TO THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO POST NOTICES ON THE NJ ARTS MAVEN BLOG

Dear Public Relations/Publicity folks,

I am happy to post notices of your upcoming events, but I really must insist that you make it easy for me to do so.

That said, here are some of the guidelines you should follow:

  • Please do not send me PDFs of articles; I cannot grab the text, and I am not going to publish text I cannot edit.  I realize that everyone is not a perfect writer, but as an English teacher for 34 years and a copy editor for 6.5 years, I am willing to bring your text up to my standards.
  • Please send me PDFs only of a poster or a page with terrific artwork. I can “take a snapshot” of it and then publish it.
  • I prefer to receive text as an attached Word document or written in the message.
  • Please attach logos and/or photos to your email as jpg files. I do not store previous photos you sent me. If I grab photos from your website, sometimes they do not appear on the blog after I have pasted them in.
  • Please be sure you give the following information in your email: WHEN, WHERE, TICKET PRICES, BOX OFFICE/WEBSITE, A PLOT SUMMARY OR AN EXPLANATION OF THE EVENT. Please do not make me got to your website and look for this information.

Why do I ask you to help me? Well, this blog is a labor of love—with the emphasis on “labor” because I can be kept busy posting every day! I get no revenue from the blog and prefer to keep it ad free because I know my readers hate those annoying ads. Besides, they clutter up the layout.

I am very pleased to have been publishing the NJ Arts Maven blog for four years. I hope I will have the energy and interested to go on for many more.

I love the arts—especially those in New Jersey—and can’t wait to spread the word about my finds to the general public

I appreciate your helping me to continue to do this in an easy way!

Best,

Ruth Ross
