The New Jersey Beekeepers Association will provide the supplies and instructions; families are asked to bring simple tools (such as a hammer). Registration is required and space is limited.  A tool list will be provided with registration.

Do the bees like their new home?  Watch as beekeepers check up on the hive.  Learn more about the hive and the honey making processes.  After the bees are installed, beekeepers will be at the Morris Museum to check on the hive every Saturday at 1:00pm.  Watch as the hive grows and the bees make honey all spring and summer and ask the beekeepers any questions you might have about honeybees and beekeeping.

About The Honey and the Hive

This spring, the Morris Museum will present an engaging new exhibition for family audiences all about bees.  The Honey and the Hive: The Sweet Story of Honeybees will be on view in our galleries from May 5 through August 15, 2014. Through hands-on, interactive displays, as well as examples of fine art, The Honey and the Hive will explore the life cycle of the bee, consider the importance of this insect to different cultures throughout the world, and investigate the considerable role played by bees to our survival. In addition, the exhibition will teach visitors how they can help to protect and conserve these incredible insects and their habitats. A number of fine artists will be featured in the show including Josie Rodriguez, Katja Loher, Marietta Patricia Leis, and Rose-Lynn Fisher. Sponsorship for The Honey and the Hive has been generously provided by Golden Blossom Honey.
