DOVER LITTLE THEATRE TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR ORIGINAL ONE-ACT PLAY FESTIVAL

Open Auditions for original one act plays.

Casting 20+ roles!

  • Please bring a picture and resume if available and be prepared to read from the scripts. You may also use a prepared monologue but that's not required.
  • Performances are May 2 - 4. You must be available for all 3 performances

Play Synopses and Characters

The Crossroad: A medieval farce set in a forest.

Family Secrets: In an Italian neighborhood in NYC, a notorious hitman and his wife finally tell their children the truth about who they really are. A comedy in the style of a sitcom.

  • Angela/Rachel (mother, 40s-60s)
  • Tony/Ira (father, 40s-60s)
  • Joey (son, 20s)
  • Angela (daughter,18+) 

Flood Insurance: A couple goes to see an insurance adjuster about a claim to recover the loss of their house from Hurricane Sandy, and discovers that flood insurance is not what they think it is.

  • 3 characters: a couple and the adjuster, ages and genders flexible.

Palmtree: A heartwarming story in which a woman attempts to reunite her estranged parents who cannot agree on where to live when they retire.

Pigeons: Two older women are reunited in NY, one is spunky, the other is suffering from dementia. Drama,

The Prince Street Story: In a funeral parlor, two friends try to reminisce with a lost stranger about the deceased, mistaking the stranger for someone else. Comedy. Ages flexible.

Soon: Two young men waiting to make statements to the police discuss the hate crime they witnessed during which their friend was attacked. Drama.

The Submission: A playwright calls to check the status of his submission of a play to an Asian Playwrights' Festival debates with the secretary about the eligibility of him and his work. Satire. Ages flexible.
